Submission Guidelines

Writing/Style

  • Aim for a word count between 800 and 1,500 words.
  • Hyperlink each quote and link for online sources. Otherwise, use footnotes to quote from print sources.
  • Insert any pictures or illustrations into the Word document, positioned as you wish to see in the published post. Indicate the source of the photo or illustration by providing a caption in square parentheses.
  • Include your name and affiliation in a short biographical statement at the end of the post. You may link to your personal website, departmental page, and/or Twitter account.
  • Write a list of 2 to 5 ‘tags’ or keywords for your post following the biographical statement. Tags may be a single word or a phrase.

Submission

  • Send your post in Microsoft Word file format to cihhicblog@gmail.com, with ‘Canadian Eyes Only Submission’ in the subject line.
  • We will do our best to respond to your submission in a timely manner. If you don’t receive a response within two weeks, please feel free to send a friendly inquiry.
  • We do not provide translation services, so please submit your post in the language you wish to publish.

Revisions

  • We edit each post for grammar, punctuation, and style. In response, we may ask you to revise your post for clarity, tone, strength of argument, and/or style.
  • You will have the opportunity to vet any changes prior to publication, and your post will only appear online with your approval.

Publication

  • Our regular publishing schedule is bi-weekly, but occasionally we will publish posts upon submission.
  • We publish all posts in the language of the original submission.
  • Knowledge dissemination is important to the success of the Canadian International History Committee. When you publish a blog post on our website, you agree to allow us to share your work online through social media.

Thank you in advance for your contribution.
